As previewed in July 2011 Google Today unveiled a revamped version of its popular email service Gmail with many new features and HD themes.

All Gmail users will gradually migrated to the new interface but if you want you can immediately switch to the new look by clicking on the Switch to the new look link at the bottom right corner of the Gmail window.

Now Gmail supports streamlined conversations to make is easy to browse through the mail threads and also it shows profile pictures.

Another major change is the display density or elastic density – it adjust font size and spacing based on display size. Users also can change it according to individual convenience and it has 3 options – comfortable, cozy and compact.

Gmail Themes section also revamped with new HD themes and high resolution images from istockphoto.

Other major features are customizable and smarter navigation panel, resize labels and chat areas, hide chat section, arrow keys to navigate, better search, easy to filter messages etc
